Spring has arrived in Boulder (if we choose to ignore the errant snowstorms last week)! Looking forward, we are in an amazing place to enjoy the outdoors, some good food, and being around other people. While there are countless options of things to do when the sun is shining and the air is nice and warm, I have chosen my three favorite springtime Boulder activities to share.

Boulder is unique in that it’s a small bustling city nestled right up against the Foothills, lending itself very easily to hiking trails that are not hard to get to. Some, like Mt. Sanitas and Chautauqua, begin right in the city itself! If you are looking to expand to further places, this handy trail map has an overview of all the trails as well as (if you scroll down) additional lists of trails depending on your preferences:

This also is a great expansive list of hikes by area:

My personal favorite (easy) hikes are:

**Hogback Lollipop Loop Trail (just north of where Broadway meets Foothills Highway)**This trail, though open to the elements, is north enough out of Boulder to be less crowded. It is a loop horizontally along the foothills with a beautiful expansive eastern facing view throughout. It meets up with the Foothills trail if you want to head South towards Wonderland Lake also.

**Anne U White Trail (West of Broadway, off of Lee Hill Road)**  This quiet serene walk follows alongside the Four Mile Canyon Creek and is nice and shady in the summer. Because there isn’t much elevation gain, this is perfect for a peaceful walk with your dog or a good hike for out-of-town guests who are visiting the area and getting used to the altitude.

  Boulder Farmers Market

What better to complement outdoor activity than with delicious food? Boulder’s Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday starting in April (and beginning in May, a Wednesday evening option is added) on 13th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe. The street is shut down and local vendors (think fresh meats, cheeses, produce, pasta, etc) hawk their wares. Local restaurants get in on the game too, so if you are more in the mood for something that is already made, you can nibble on a pizza from Laudisio’s mobile Pizza Oven.
